About the School
Situated in the heart of Cuzco, close to the Plaza de Armas, Ethnias Spanish School offers a pleasant and familiar atmosphere. It is a small school where teachers use an easy and well-planned scheme of language learning. They split their students into different levels according to ability so that learning is fast and fun. All of the tutors have taken specialised courses in the grammatical and linguistic aspects of the Spanish language and have MAs in teaching.
About the Courses & Levels
Courses are available from beginners to advanced students and teachers will evaluate your level and devise a personal learning programme to suit your needs. Besides grammar, emphasis is placed on pronunciation, conversation and vocabulary, building your confidence to communicate with native speakers or your local family. Group lessons will have a maximum of three students per class.
Classes are held in the mornings from 9am-1pm or 3pm to 7pm from Monday to Friday. The school also arranges cookery classes, salsa lessons and cultural and museum visits (to practice your skills!).
The length of stay and time of tuition required is entirely up to you, however, a guideline is that with 20 hours tuition per week, you should be able to have a basic dialog within 2 weeks. If you would prefer 1:1 lessons, then please contact us for prices.
While you are studying you will be staying with a host family. This is an excellent opportunity to practice communicating in Spanish and learn more about the local lifestyle as well as providing local families with an extra income.
Host families are selected carefully for their comfort and location. You will have a private bedroom, 3 meals per day as well as an airport pickup on arrival. The address of your family will be sent to you once you have confirmed your booking and sent us your arrival details.
We suggest that people allow US$ 100-150 per week, this is to include spending money, side trips, meals out, drinks, emails, extra activities outside the package (additional salsa lessons), souvenirs, and arrival / departure taxes. This is an estimated figure as personal spending habits and budgets vary hugely from person to person. If you plan on buying a lot of crafts and souvenirs along the way you will need a bit more.
Arrangements can be made for students to be picked up at Cuzco airport by their host families at no extra charge. Please advise us if you would like this and provide us your flight / arrival details as soon as you know them.
