For many years we have used donkeys to explore the awesome Valley of the Kings on our Egypt Regional Explorer and Overland Adventure trips.  Sadly, due to the amount of traffic and the size of the buses and coaches using the same route, it’s not as safe and enjoyable as it used to be. We have therefore decided to alter the day and use a coach to take us to the Valley of the Kings and offer the option of an hour long donkey ride around the villages of the West Bank.

The Villages Donkey ride is great fun and very interactive with locals who usually get some entertainment in return!  It’s also a lot more interesting experiencing Egyptian village life than trotting along the main roads as before.

In Egypt, we aim to put as much of the trip costs directly back into the local community and economy as possible.  Our local rep Tayeb has sourced the donkeys for the Valley of the Kings trip from his own family and village neighbours for the past five years which allows them to gain extra income beyond their subsistence farming.  We will continue to support these families with the Villages Donkey ride and hope you will too!
