Drop us a line or two - we are always eager to hear from passengers about their trips (both positive & negative comments!) - its great to hear how people have enjoyed themselves (lets face it - its far more common nowadays to complain than to offer praise), so thanks to the people below for taking the time to email or write to us.

If you would like to give us your views on a trip email us at: info@oasisoverland.co.uk

Dear Oasis Team,

I meant to send this email in the middle of December after I finsihed my two month trip with Andy, Mel and Frieda from Quito to Santiago but I have been caught up in travelling further on my own. I would like you to know, although I'm sure that you already do, what a wonderful team Mel and Andy make. The countries we visited are beautiful and amazing and the itinerary made sure we saw the best bits but the two of them really made the truck trip work. Mel's organisation is second to none and the effort put into the meal plans was incredible and very much appreciated. You could see the envy on the faces of the passengers on the other trucks. Their enthusiasm was infectious and having tour guided before myself I know how tiring it can be but they seemed to have boundless amounts of energy all the time. Having done a bit of independent travel before I was nervous about going on such an organised trip but they made sure it was the perfect start to my 8 months of travelling. So, thank you to your team in London and especially to Mel and Andy. Kind regards, Catherine

THE TEAM AT OASIS!

My name is Ewen Gordon, and i was on your trip from quito to santiago that ended on the 10th of december, i just thought i would email and say thanks for a shit hot holiday, i cant think of a better tour company to go with, we saw the kumaka, budget and and few others and there was no way there tours were any where close as good as yours.
Andy and Mel were amazing defiantly the best tour guides we came across, they both did things that no other were doing like the cooking stuff like hungi and other spits, and they seemed to have so many connections that got as to really cool places were other tours didn't go.

Just wanted to drop you a quick line to say that we had the most fantastic time in South America. We wanted you to know that Ricardo was sooooo great and helped me out in a few sticky situations during the trip. He went beyond his job description im sure and so thankful that we had him as our tour guide. His love for his job and country is evident and he worked so hard to ensure we were all happy and everything was organised.
We did however have a few hiccups on the Jungle extension, which I have emailed Ricardo about, but other than that the trip was faultess.
We look forward to maybe more trips with Oasis in the future...... we had heard that Oasis was going to Asia ???
Many thanks.
Liana & Kane (Peru Encompassed)

Just a short note to express my appreciation for the efforts put in by the 2 crew on this trip to make the holiday a most enjoyable one. I found Fiona and Darren
to be both professional and personable and I am sure all the other participants would feel the same way.
Please pass on my compliments and appreciation to them in due ourse.
Regards
Peter (Oasis Caravan)

Just a quick note to thankyou so much for organising our recent Egypt Encompassed Tour. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will recommend it to anyone.
Please thank Keren for also meeting with us and organsing things as well. Lindsay was a fantastic tour leader! A great person and so patient with everyone!
Thankyou again
Kind regards

Hi there,
My name is Eva. My daughter will be on one of your trips in the next week or so, travelling through the Middle East. She is 25 years old.
I will be contacting you from time to time, as being a mother, i am worried about her going through areas where it may be dangerous. In todays world, it is not easy, not to worry,
Hope to hear from you, Kind regards Eva.
After the completion of the trip......

Hi there, just wanted to thankyou for the great time my daughter had on your trip to the Middle East. She texted me every few days and she said it was safe and she loved the trip very much. I worried like crazy, but thats what mothers do. Keep up the good work and good luck with future planned trips. you did a great job!!
Kind regards, Eva

I'd just like to say how much we enjoyed our trip to Peru with Oasis, thank you. It was all, if not more than we expected and Ricardo was a great tour guide and looked after us all very well. Thank you also to you for all your help and organising prior to us going, you kept us very informed.
Regards,
Kathryn (Peru Encompassed)

I just wanted to drop you a quick line to say that I had a wonderful time on Peru Encompassed over the last three weeks. Ricardo was great, and everything went better than I could ever have hoped.
Thanks so much.
Kind regards
Helen (Peru Encompassed)

From the moment Kirsten and I booked we had wonderful support from the office and that continued the whole way through our 71 days. I can't tell you how easy Nancy made everything for us, so much so that I hardly had to think at all! She was totally professional and handled difficult situations well and was always ready to have a good time. My trip certainly wouldn't have been the same without her.
It's hard to believe that 71 days is over and done with - I'm ready to go back and do it all again! Many thanks to all at Oasis who made it such a memorable journey.
Sally (Grand Adventurer)

My Daughter returned yesterday and had a fantastic time. She was really impressed by all aspects of the trip and said their tour leader....Julie...was excellent and ensured everyone got the most out of their time in Egypt. We shall certainly book with Oasis again. Thanks for all your help in the lead up.
Lauren's Mum (Egypt Encompassed)

Hi there,
Well I've now been home for two weeks after what can only be described as a trip of a lifetime. Bron and Ian were absolutley fantastic the whole trip and it was only when we reached East Africa and we met other trucks, did i realise just how good they were. Other people were asking us questions as their own tour leaders didn't provide them with information and Bronwyn knew the answers to pretty much everything we had to ask! The trucks were great - I think the layouts are better than most other trucks we saw, particularly the open back. Obviously Bumbles had been around a while but she had character!! The tents leave something to be desired (pole inside ones) but they really would be my only complaint about the trip!
The intinerary was fantastic and one of the best things about Oasis was that any spare money we had was all put back into the trip so we visited additional locations to any other truck. I really would recommend the company to anyone and I look forward to booking another trip with you in the near future!!
Love Vic (Trans Africa)

Hi there - have just returned from yet another amazing Oasis trip and wanted to say thanks to all involved in the office, (especially whoever described me as a poledancer as it did make a better first impression than a history teacher!), but also to sing the praises of Jason and Nancy (yes a kiss arse email!!). Have just completed the Gorilla loop and I had such an amazing time - they were both hilarious, really good fun but also well organised and they made me feel at ease but also completely safe. They work so well together as a team and I know that everyone on the trip thought really highly of them as we were all quite sad to say goodbye.
I can't praise them enough. So thanks again to everyone involved in organising my trip.
Helen (Gameparks & Gorillas)

Hi Oasis,
Tanya here. Just wanted to let you know that I had a great time on the trip and that Cade, Kirsty and Jason (aka Boyo) were all fantastic.
Thanks for all your help and you may be hearing from me again!
Good Luck, Tanya (Deserts and Gameparks)

Feedback from some of our passengers through Bugbitten.com:

Travelled to Egypt with Oasis Overland and had the best trip of my travels so far. Weather was perfect, locals extremely friendly, so many fantastic sights to see and plenty to do. Tour was extremely well organised and would recommend them to anyone travelling to Egypt, the only down fall was the fact that the group was bigger than anticipated but that was due to the fact it was Easter time.
bugbitten.com (Egypt Encompassed - 14 days)

This tour was a new option from Oasis and we felt a little let down after the fantastically run tour we started off with around Egypt. Hopefully in the future they could improve it by including a tour guide.
The highlight of Jordon was of course Petra and also swimming in the Dea Sea was cetainly an experience - word of warning though....do not get the water in your eyes!! Lathering up in Dead Sea mud was great fun, although felt like you were being baked alive in the hot sun. One tip for what to pack would be an umbrella and warm jacket whatever time of the year you travel - the weather can be quite cold and wet which was the case for our 6 days in Jordan.

Last summer my Fiance and I toured Egypt, Jordan & Syria on the Oasis Overland Nomad tour and it was one of our favourite travel experiences. There were only 2 other girls in our tour (English & Trinidadian) and my Fiance and I (both Aussie, the worldcup was on at the same time so the group was quite small. We started in Cairo where we got to visit the Egyptian Museum and the amazing Pyramids. We then travelled on an overnight train (definitely an experience in itself) to Aswan where we visited the amazing Temple of Ramses and embarked on what was hands down our favourite part of the trip and a must do if you're in Egypt...the Feluka.

We spent 2 relaxing nights sailing down the nile on a traditional Egyptian Sail boat, our crew prepared delicious food for us each day and entertained us at night and each morning we woke up to the sun rising across the Nile...life doesn't get much better than that!

Other highlights of the trip were a vist to an Orphanage in Luxor and other members of the group said they experienced some great diving in the 4 days we were in Dahab. We don't dive but we did climb to the top of Mt Sinai to watch the sunrise which was a huge acheivement.

It was then onto Jordan for a few days where on our first night we camped in the middle of the Desert, the second night on the top of Mt Nebo, and we also got to see the ancient city of Petra and swam (or floated) in the Dead Sea.

We ended our tour a day early as we had other travel plans so we only got one day in Syria but it was good to experience another country. Overall it was a fantastic trip and I would recommend this tour to anyone!

This trip is an excellent way to see the best parts of the middle east through Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Turkey in just 5 weeks. You have enough time to go through each city/town/village and see all the places of interest and have a range of optional extras to choose from that you can work into your schedule.

The highlights of the trip were many, but sailing the nile on feluccas, diving in dahab, 4x4 safari in Wadi Rum, hot air ballooning in Goreme, rambling through Petra, visiting the Gallipoli beaches and just simply camping in the desert certainly topped the list.

If you're don't think you can handle the overlanding experience of camping under the stars, digging your own toilet with a spade when nature calls, or going without a shower for a couple of days then don't bother with a trip like this. But if you can handle it, then your in for one great experience! You'll also probably decide to do an even longer trip like this through Africa or South America , which is handy because your tour leaders will most probably have done other such tours through these areas and can give you heaps of advice.

Most people on the trip were from England, Australia or NZ, tended to be 20 to 30 y.o.a. with an interest in history, culture and places a little out of the ordinary rather than those looking the package party atmosphere.
So, if you want to see a vastly different yet vibrant culture with timeless history whilst enjoying hassle free accommodation and transport while travelling with like minded people then jump on board!

Egypt is a destination I had never really given much thought to. I had learned a bit in school in Ancient History but it did not really interest me. However. a few of my friends recommended it highly so I decided to travel over the Easter Holidays.

I travelled with Oasis Overland for 14 days. It is one of the best organised trips I have ever been on. The staff had a high amount of knowledge and were very approachable. They kept you updated each day with what was on the itinerary, appropriate clothes to wear and also what was expected.
The highlight of the trip for me would have to be the Feluca ride up the Nile. For two nights we sailed up the Nile. It was a very relaxing part of the trip as there was not a lot to do except sunbathe, read, play cards or have a few quiet drinks.

Dahab was the extra four days at the end of our tour. I really loved Dahab for its great seafood and friendly locals. The shopping in Dahab was also good. After spending a few days wondering around, the locals would always say hello and remember you.

The Egypt Encompassed tour had the right balance between sight seeing, tourist stuff and relaxing. By the end of it we had seen so much but still felt like we had a holiday.
Egypt would have to be one of my favourite holidays by far.
bugbitten.com (Egypt Encompassed - 14 days)

My group was pretty small due to the outbreak of war in the region though the trip was still amazing. We traveled in a version of a stretched jeep with open sides. Most nights were spent under the stars and we cooked meals on our own so maybe this trip is not for everybody...however I found it perfect.

This area - Istanbul to Cairo via Syria and Jordan - has so many religious and cultural sites to see it is astounding. Take your time and be patient. Yes there is a lot to see but stopping to look at the big picture will give your perspective when you think you cannot bear to see one more ruin. These are more than crumbled rocks.

We did our trip to Egypt over Christmas and New Years in the school holidays. It was the best trip I have done.

I think we saw all the things that we wanted and the guides we had were fabulous. Oasis uses local guides in each area that they stay so we had many different guides with specific areas of knowledge. We saw loads of different temples. There was just the right amount of free time in each place so that you could get refreshed and have some time to yourself. A lot of meals were included and when they weren't the tour leader would still organise a restaurant for dinner and we all still went out together anyhow. The felucca trip down the Nile was my favourite part - living on a boat for 3 days was cool with bonfires and beer on the beach each night. Another highlight was the optional camel trek out to a ruined monastery. We raced the camels across the desert, great fun.

Oh yeah, and if you are planning to walk up Mt Sinai take thermals, seriously. It was freezing!!
As a group everyone got on well. People were mostly in their twenties and a lot of Kiwis and Aussies. We made some great friends on the trip and have kept in touch with a lot of people. It was really sad to go home!
I would highly recommend the Oasis tour as they have great guides and they set a good paced tour and deal well with any issues that arise. They covered everything really well.

Highlights: The amazing sea life in the red sea and the relaxed people in Dahab. We seriously just leave our bags lying around while diving and nothing went missing! Also the Pyramids and sphinx are fantastic. Some people say they were disappointed so i didn't big it up and ended up being in awe the whole time there. The food is awesome and they have the best chocolate thickshakes!

Favourite activities: Definately the diving but I also rode a camel which was a laugh. The traffic in Cairo is wicked... like organised chaos that somehow just works. Donkeys on the outer lane of a five lane road over a bridge on the nile!

Packing tips: Definitely pack a warm jumper for night time and even though you think there are no mosquitoes remember to wear repellent at night... I got eaten alive on my last night wearing shorts.

The tour starts in Cairo with the 14 day tour group and then splits off to go to dahab on an overnight bus. Its a long trip so remember a travel pillow and something warm cause the driving cranks the air con. Also if possible get a flight into cairo and out of Sharm el sheik which is only 1.5 hours from Dahab. it would have been much nicer than a packed 10 hour bus ride back to Cairo.

There were only two people on the dive tour, me and another kiwi. There were other kiwis, aussies and an english girl on the 14 day tour. Generally chilled out people.

I would definitely suggest this tour for people learning to dive and other experienced divers were saying the red sea has some of the best dive sites in the world. It was awesome - even just snorkelling is fantastic. It was a good time of year to go as there were less people (still loads) and it wasn't boiling hot but still warm enough to dive.

Egyptians are lovely people and I loved it and I'll definitely go back one day once I have more diving experience and can relax egyptian style!

We joined Oasis Overland for our Christmas Egypt Encompassed tour for 07/08. Our group were great fun and our tour guides (we had two as it was a special event and therefore more people) were excellent. Oasis is a great company to go with because they use alot of local people to help you and as Egyptologists, providing money back into their communities and not pockets of companies. Using locals also helped you to get a better understanding of the places we visited and allowed some of us to meet their family- giving the tour a nice personal touch.

Highlights were definatly the hot air balloon ride over Luxor, Camel & Donkey rides, and our Christmas on a Felucca (including secret santa) was pretty special and something that wont be forgotten in a hurry. Mind you I dont wish the same for New Years (having spent it with Egypt belly over the toilet bowl!- mind you Im sure lots of others were doing the same on the night, just that theirs was alcohol induced- lucky devils!!) Packing tip.. just listen to the guides and go to the local Egyptian chemists for their miracle drugs! They are very cheap and effective.

Though the group was of mixed nationalities the majority was of course Aussies and Kiwi's (no great surprises there!). I met a heap of likeminded people (aka generally all employed in London, travelling for holidays to escape the cold!) and we were all of a good age and with sense of adventure.

We had fun, and if you are thinking of going Im sure you will too.
