Diving in Dahab

Diving in Dahab

When it comes to Red Sea scuba adventures, diving in Dahab is the ultimate offering.

Dahab means gold in Arabic and when you see the desert cliffs and sand dunes behind and above Dahab, which appear golden in the morning and evening sun, you’ll understand why. Its idyllic beaches, crystal clear water and palm trees will have you thinking that you are in paradise for the duration of your stay.

Divers from all over the world flock to Dahab in search of some of the most breathtaking dive opportunities in the world. As Dahab is in the Red Sea the abundance of marine life at these dive sites is spectacular – tropical fish of every shade and hue flitter between some of the most striking coral reefs in the world.

Dahab Dive Spots

There are too many spots when it comes to Dahab dives to mention, but here are a few of the top spots:

There are few dive sites in the world more spectacular than Sinai’s Blue Hole which lies a few miles north of Dahab. This dive will see you encountering corals, fans, eels and dozens of fish species. Though beautiful this dive site is extremely dangerous.

The Islands is a world-class dive site and the three underwater coral islands you will swim through on this Dahab dive are teeming exotic marine life.

If you’re after something really special, the rare ghost pipefish of Desert Divers Bay are a must see.

Eel Garden, The Lighthouse, The Canyon, Tia Maria, Rick’s Reef, Southern Oasis, Golden Blocks, Glassfish Pinnacle, Three Pools, Om Sid and the Caves are some of Dahab’s other diving locations.

Top Dahab Attractions

While diving may be what Dahab is best known for there are a multitude of other attractions that you should visit while you are there.

When you’re not underwater you can water-ski, fish and ride a camel (or a horse if you’re feeling less adventurous). You can also visit a real desert oasis, buy local crafts in the markets, enjoy traditional cuisine in the many restaurants, visit a papyrus museum, swim with dolphins or climb Mt. Sinai.
