The Philips’ Cairo to Cape Town Roadshow

Philips, the electronics company is currently undertaking a Cairo to Cape Town Roadshow, travelling for 2 months to 15 major cities.  They are demonstrating how their new developments in solar powered and sustainable lighting can simply enhance people’s lives, from bringing communities together at a game of football in the evening to enabling children to do school homework at night.

Travelling by Oasis Overland truck and being led by two of our crew, Nev and Carol, the Philips team are getting a true overlanding experience, camping overnight, cooking over the campfire, shopping at markets and stopping at awesome sights along the way.  At each city it’s a big change of scene as they swap their shorts and t-shirts for collar and tie and slip into corporate mode.

Nick Kelso from Philips is writing an excellent blog about his and his colleagues’ journey and what they are doing along the way, from life on the truck to the first game of football under Philips solar LED floodlighting.

The trip has reached Botswana and will continue from there to South Africa.  Our Logistics Manager, Mark will be taking over the driving from there, taking the team from Johannesburg to Cape Town – watch out for his Tweet  A Day in SA on Twitter from 13th July!
