Carols Roadshow Report

Carol reports back after finishing her stint as tour leader on the Philips’ Cairo to Cape Town Roadshow…

“Oasis Overland is proud to be supporting Philips Lighting in delivering their new solar powered products to East and Southern Africa.  Philips are carrying out a series of promotional roadshows in over 8 countries and meeting with Ministers, NGO groups, Distributors and local people to show them how to extend their day with solar light.  The majority of people living in rural Africa have no access to electricity and rely on expensive kerosene lamps for their study and work after sunset, which can be both expensive and damaging to their health.

Oasis has been providing logistical support to transport the Philips solar equipment and roadshow display material along with a team of Philips staff and to generally keep ‘the show on the road’.

We have been joined by some Dutch footballers who have been running football clinics and competitions under solar power.  Along with this we have had some impromptu events including an inter-overland truck volleyball competition (won by African Trails – Oasis sadly couldn’t enter a team due to providing background support) and a netball match with local ladies in Malawi (Oasis/Philips team came 3rd – out of 3!!).  For more information check out the Philips Cairo to Cape Town Roadshow website and spot our big yellow Oasis truck!!!”

Mark, our Logistics Manager is now driving the Philips team on their last leg to Cape Town.  Check out his ‘Tweet a Day from SA’ on Twitter.
