Jenny gives us some feedback from Egypt

Our Egypt tour leader Jenny gives us some feedback from Dahab on how Egyptians feel about the recovery of tourism…

“This photo was taken in Midan Tahrir (Tahrir Square) not long after Mubarak had stepped down. It seems to sum up the feeling all Egyptians have in wanting tourists to return to Egypt and feel welcome and safe here.

Getting Mubarak to step down is just the first step for this country towards freedom and democracy but without tourism to support the economy the process will be much harder and a lot of people are suffering now as their income has vanished.  Egyptians would like the world to view them as peaceful people and to continue to travel here as the country emerges from 30 years of military rule.  We wait to see if April, a traditional high season, sees the return of tourism and confidence from the international community.

Now is a wonderful time to visit Egypt as the popular tourist sites are not crowded and you can take advantage of great photo opportunities and short queues before the hoards return”

Thanks to Sue Deegan for the photo.
