250 mile Cycle Challenge for Sid

Sid is cycling over 250 miles through Rwanda and Uganda this June to raise money for a Ugandan charity, Edirisa.

Sid in TanzaniaThe charity is based in Kabale, which is on the itinerary of our overland trips to Uganda and it’s also the home town of Brenda, who Sid has sponsored to go to school for the past 8 years. The cycle challenge will be a unique opportunity for Sid to meet Brenda and her family before she leaves school next year

Sid is well known to us at Oasis Overland – he has been visiting our HQ at Henstridge Marsh for almost 10 years now, doing all our trucks’ wheel alignment.  We sponsored him 2 years ago for a similar bike ride through Tanzania and this year we’ll be doing the same.  Sid is paying all his own costs for the challenge, so all money raised goes direct to Ederisa.

As Sid says, for the price of a pint of beer you can give 2 kids anti malaria tables or a mossi net – even at the price of beer these days, that’s pretty good value!

Sid's sponsors!Edirisa has for the past 11 years has been funding a primary school, four nurseries and a special needs school in Kabale.  They have helped with rain water harvesting and local craft production and the next project is a health clinic.
