Travelling to Egypt during Ramadan

Ramadan is an Islamic holy month and during this time Muslims fast during daylight hours as well as spending more time in prayer.  Some people are put off travelling to Egypt during Ramadan but here are some reasons why it’s a good time to go!

The Pyramids & Sphinx at GizaAll the major sites are still open – you certainly won’t miss out on seeing the Pyramids and Sphinx, the Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple and the like.  Your Oasis Egypt tour itinerary will take into account any change in opening times.

Come evening time, locals are celebrating and there’s a great atmosphere – remember if you’re offered something to eat, it’s fine to accept it and in fact whoever is offering will probably be disappointed if you don’t.

If you’re concerned about finding somewhere to have a beer in the evening, don’t worry.  It may be harder to find than usual but there will be a bar in most places.

This year (2013) Ramadan lasts from 9th Juy to 7th August.
