10 Year Oasis Overland Trans Africa reunion weekend
Last weekend a few of us from Oasis HQ went to an Oasis Overland Trans Africa reunion in Herefordshire. My name is Linda and 10 years ago this 10th November myself and 47 others set off on 2 Oasis trucks, (Gunga & Fanny) on a 29 week overland adventure around Africa. We left the UK destined for Cape Town exploring 27 countries on the way. Little did we know that it would be a life changing experience in more ways than one.

Linda from Oasis HQ visited Zimbabwe
I have just returned from the most amazing visit to Zimbabwe. I had not been back to Zimbabwe for almost 10 years, where I originally first travelled as a passenger on an Oasis Overland 23 week Trans Africa trip from UK to Cape Town and although this visit was only for 10 days I was so excited to return as I absolutely loved it the first time around.

London to Mongolia along the Ancient Silk Road
London to Mongolia and back, on a wing and a prayer.

Our Logistics Manager, Mark, decided he needed a challenge and a few years ago he and an Overlanding friend, Andy, set about driving the Silk Road in a totally unsuitable car! Here are a few of their stories…….

Whats the opposite of all inclusive.......answer OVERLANDING
At the end of April the team at Oasis Overland eagerly watched an article on the BBC breakfast news about all-inclusive holidays. As you all know, we are members of Tourism Concern who as an organisation were questioning the resurgence of the ‘all-inclusive’ model of tourism.

Ethiopia Rocks!
Claire, one of our tour leaders in Africa has sent this update from her trip:
My first recollection of Ethiopia was in the 80’s when I, like so many others, turned on the TV to the horrendous daily images of starving children. I remember knitting clothes at school to send to these kids and donating my pocket money in a bid to help. Today is a very different story and it’s great to see that tourism is definitely having a positive effect on the country and its people.

Through the Stans on the Silk Road to Mongolia
London to Mongolia in an Old Ford Fiesta - Part 2.
The ‘Stans’ are without doubt something that need to be seen to be believed. From the grandeur of the Registan in old Samarkand to the madness of gold statues and marble in Ashgabat, you really are the centre of attention in these little travelled areas.
